Poway Residence -- A 1+ Acre landscape around a contemporary style home in Eastern Poway was completely redeveloped in phases over the course of 7 years. The clients requested a landscape that would accommodate large outdoor parties that they frequently hosted, and a swimming pool that incorporated an automatic pool cover to save energy. The project scope included extensive re-grading of the site, all new hardscape & planting, a re-organization of the arrival/ parking areas, as well as conceptual design of a new pool house with sauna and wine cellar.
A notable feature is the prominent natural rock formation in the rear yard. The plant palette is an eclectic mix of native, Mediterranean, South African and subtropical species, designed to provide interesting forms, flowers, foliage colors and textures throughout the year. A modestly sized lawn in the backyard is used for games and activities during parties.
